GeoModel, Inc. provides a nationwide GeoMap service of locating underground pipelines using electromagnetic conductivity (EM) meters. These GeoMap survey systems are truck or ATV mounted to provide coverage over large areas. The information from the GeoMap EM meter is GPS positioned and obtained in real time. The result is a color map as shown on this web page. The client receives a GeoMap color map of their survey area showing buried pipelines. The pipeline can be an oil pipeline (petroleum pipeline), a water pipeline, a brine pipeline, or any other metal or conductive pipeline. An AutoCAD map is supplied to the client, if requested, that shows all the pipelines located by the EM meter.

The GeoModel, Inc. GeoMap detects metal pipelines and other pipelines that are conductive such as electrical duct banks and some water lines.

Petroleum Oil Companies and other Pipeline Companies use this service to map their pipelines in remote areas or within plant facilities. This GeoMap map should be made, in addition to other pipeline locating methods and research, before any excavation, grading, or construction is conducted.

The GeoModel, Inc. GeoMap color contour map can also show areas of buried metal drums, or metal tanks (USTs), burial trenches containing metal, landfills or buried conductive materials. The GeoMap can also be used to map conductive contaminant plumes such as brine spills.

The contoured GeoMap ( above left) was made by GeoModel, Inc. using an EM meter to collect field data,
data processing software to grid the field data, and post-processing visualization software to produce the color image.
The image on the above right shows the locations of metal and conductive pipelines detected by the EM instrument on an AutoCAD map in the same area as on the left.
