Site Assessment
Surveys by GeoModel, Inc.
GeoModel, Inc. can use site assessment technology at brownsfield sites, environmental sites, hazardous waste sites, and for geologic hazard assessments. GeoModel, Inc. has many years of experience using site assessment technology, and has the experienced personnel to conduct the surveys. Site assessment technology includes geophysical surveys which may involve ground penetrating radar, terrain conductivity surveys, and surface resistivity surveys.
Ground penetrating radar (GPR) can be used as a site assessment technology that can determine underground structures, soil and geologic layers, and contaminated zones. Ground penetrating radar produces a cross sectional picture of the subsurface conditions. This site assessment technology is by far the most successful technique applied to hazardous waste sites. It can detect buried objects through reinforced concrete, including underground storage tanks, underground piping, and buried trenches. Examples of ground penetrating radar equipment and results illustrating geologic hazards are shown below.

Terrain Conductivity (EM) is also a valuable site assessment technology. The terrain conductivity meter measures the electrical properties of the soils and groundwater at the site. The site assessment can often be completed within one day of work. Examples of terrain conductivity equipment and results of an EM survey can be seen below.

A Ground Resistivity (RES) survey is another useful site assessment technology. Resistivity measurements can be used to create a vertical geoelectric section or a profile of the subsurface electrical properties. Substantial depths can be attained even in clayey soils. Probes are placed in the ground and electrical measurements are made. Examples of the ground resistivity equipment and results are shown below.
